Hey,
I think an SF denizen can better describe it, but the whole notion of Guerilla Queer Bar is one of my favorites... the idea that any bar/club/resteraunt can become a queer space for a night.

Re: GQB
Sun, July 11, 2004 - 12:54 AMHi, Milo,
We have a less defined version of that idea here in Nashville - mostly because we've never tried to define it :)
But whenever a group (3, 4, 5, more) of us decide to attend an event, we tend to bring it Faerie energy. For instance, a local AIDS benefit called Zootopia benefited from our attending - the patrons mostly came in jeans and nice shirts, but the Faeries came dressed in our finest Fur & Feathers. Caused a bit of double-takes, some fun times, and we all had a great time. Plus we brought some fire-spinners with us that performed for a couple hours.
And when we head to the local snob bar, Trite - sorry, I mean "Tribe" - we try to add glitter and glamour as much as possible.
I think that's probably a good description of a GFE - Guerilla Faerie Event :)

Re: GQB
Thu, September 16, 2004 - 7:14 AMThere's a possibility that some of us might organise a guerrilla queer bar in London during the European Social Forum in a couple of weeks time (mainly 'cos there are already loads of parties going on and we don't have the energy to organise a full-on party ourselves). So, look out for a burst of radical queer energy on Old Compton during the period 14-17 October.

Fri, September 17, 2004 - 2:06 AMyippee!
awsome idea!
To add a little queer history: in the Netherlands in the early seventies we had the Rooie Flikkers (red faggots) who would invade straight dancing halls and start their own tango. Two men dancing together was then an absolute no-no. -

Re: GQB
Sat, September 18, 2004 - 3:52 PMI would love to!
But i have money problems (issues with Dutch social welfare)+ i'm coming back from San Francisco on octobre 12th + on the 13th i have a class from 8 am till 9 pm (!) so I'll be exhausted on the 14th
- i could still come over to London just on the 15th and 16th
I have a friend there who i may stay with, but it's so uncertain.
I actually don't think i can make it :-( but if i had the body of Superman I would do it.
(i mean: if my own body would be like Superman's.... i don't want his body in my fridge or something.....)
Again.
This was Joli(e) making this thread go all weird.
It's a special service.
You're welcome :-) -

Mon, September 20, 2004 - 6:41 AMSweet Milo, can i please pass Superman's body (the one from my fridge) over to you?
I need more space because I want to put in Tony Blairs'.
It's still very muscled, kinda gay Tom-van-Finland type of guy...
Oh wait... superman wasn't gay, batman was. -
